Professionals - Rewards & Incentives
The Every Schoolday Counts Project believes in using positive
strategies such as rewards and incentives to motivate children
and parents to get to school and on time.
Some of the gifts and tools used are:
Certificates, watches, book tokens, bookmarks, keyrings, calendars,
pens, pencils, clocks, games, trips out, toys, sticker charts,
balloons, colouring books, note books, mugs, water bottles.
An annual Celebration Event also takes place, which aims to publicly
celebrate the success of those children who achieve 100% attendance
for a full academic year. For more information about this please
see ‘Annual Celebration’. (Make this a link please

The DFES acknowledges the benefits of rewarding good attendance
on its website:
‘ Rewarding achievements: positive recognition
of individual pupil, class or year group achievements in good
attendance
and behaviour,
through mentions in assembly, awarding certificates or prizes,
is helpful especially in primary schools.’
