Annual Celebration

Before Every Schoolday Counts commenced there was neither public celebration nor any coordinated approach to celebrate achievements.

The Every Schoolday Counts Project recognises that attending school every day for a whole year is a remarkable achievement.

As a special reward, the Project invites those with a full year 100% attendance to attend an Annual Celebration Event.

*Newsflash - 9th October 2006*

100% Celebration Event 2006

For the third year running, Every Schoolday Counts has secured sponsorship from SAFC Foundation, to ensure the annual 100% Celebration Event will go ahead.

Support from the Foundation has this week been confirmed and the event will take place on Saturday 2nd December 2006, when the Black Cats take on Norwich.

Those children who achieved 100% attendance for the academic year 2005/6 will receive their 'event packs' in November, via their primary school.  (For those children who have moved on into Secondary School their packs will be distributed via their Head of Year/ Pastoral Worker).

Packs will contain two tickets, one child ticket for the 100% attender plus one ticket for a parent/ carer (adult over the age of 18). Tickets are non-transferable.

Every Schoolday Counts and Spike would like to congratulate all children on their huge acheivement and look forward to seeing them on the day!

If you have any queries regarding the event please contact the team on 0191 553 5431.

Celebration Event 2005

Delilah, Spike and Samson

On Saturday 26th November 2005, 1161 pupils and their parents were rewarded for their 100% attendance achievements! Thanks to SAFC Foundation, children and a parent/carer were each given a ticket to Sunderland’s home game against Birmingham City.

Spirits were high as Spike, the Project’s friendly mascot did his lap of honour around the pitch before kick off. Special presentations took place at pitch side to award three children for never missing a single day in seven years of Primary School! James Clark, Francesca White and Amy Miller were presented with a special glass trophy and music vouchers donated by Hays Travel.

The three children and competition winner, Brodie Churchill, took part in a penalty shoot out against Spike at half time. Awards were also presented to Benedict Biscop CE Aided Primary School for having the ‘best’ attendance during academic year 2004/5 and also to Havelock Primary School for having the ‘most improved’ attendance.

Well done to all pupils! We hope you had a fantastic day and continue to strive for 100% this academic year!

We value your thoughts and comments. If you would like to share your thoughts about the day, you can email spike@edcom.sunderland.gov.uk
